Seems the bronze fitting (pintle?) on the skeg came loose. They sure are pretty boats though. We did a little topsides patching and painting so the boat looks new! Yep, that pintle does sometimes loosen. Did you drop the rudder out and renew the bush? Heh heh, the rudder kinda falls out when the pintle is removed. There doesn't seem to be much meat for the bolts to grip in the skeg so it's no wonder they loosen. I don't know about the bushing, I got snagged to hold the rudder and pintle in place while someone put the new bolts in. Seahag |

I can guess how jumpy, twitchy and close to the edge you must be, after all the effort you put in as a MacAnonymous member, and after all those years finally defeating the habit...only to have another MacJunkie suddenly spout forth on the newsgroup. These lashings out at those who truly appreciate you are merely cries for help, and we do understand. So we're all supportive, Spotty, and we're all here to help you resist the siren call that Jim-the-Deafer has sounded. We know that what is cacaphony to our ears is still, at heart, music to yours. the boat I sailed on a pond in Ottawa on 2nd April this year is a home
built (aka "hand crafted") one-sheeter of my own design called a Loonie. There are photos on my website under Boats. A one sheeter is a boat made out of one sheet of plywood. There are half a dozen different one-sheeter designs that I'm aware of. Anybody is welcome to use the Loonie design for free. Usually I'm not able to sail in Ottawa until mid-April. I don't read this newsgroup but I do read rec.boats.building daily and regconize some of the names in this newsgroup from there. tomorrow I hope to enter the other one-sheeter I designed, also on my website, the Delta, in a local canoe race. the ice has been off that river (Jock River, Ottawa) for one week. my goal is not to win, only to survive. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ William R Watt National Capital FreeNet Ottawa's free community network homepage: www.ncf.ca/~ag384/top.htm warning: non-freenet email must have "notspam" in subject or it's returned |
