Default Bottom Paint

We asked at =Torresen's and they recommended using Interlux Micron
anti-fouling paint =
but that we would have to sand off the VC17 (quite lethal stuff) They =
quoted 2600.00 plus the cost of the paint to do it. .

Katy, Your marina is either trying to make money on you or they are just stupid
when it comes to bottom paints. VC-17 is nothing more than a Vinyl antifouling
paint the same as Baltoplate. You can paint over a vinyl but you can't apply
vinyl over any other paint. Do a little reading. The $2600 would be wasted.

Yes Kate, do some reading, like Interlux's recommendation to always remove VC17
when changing paint:

Heck, checking that chart only confirms what I said. It says to lightly sand
and apply.

Yes Kate, do some reading, like Interlux's recommendation to always remove
VC17
when changing paint:

Any knowledgable person will tell you that any paint can be applied over a
vinyl but a vinyl cannot be put over anything other than vinyl. Interlux like
every paint manufacture is just trying to cover their ass against complaining
people. I put Awlgrip Allstar over Baltoplate on my boat with absolutely no
problems.

Read again Jeff. There is a red dot which indicates to "lightly sand then
apply"

read again, loco. There is a dark blue dot on the VC17m column, meaning "Remove
All Paint"

Perhaps the paint Kate has on is not VC17m, but if it is, Interlux is saying to
remove it.
