I see that in one photo, he appears to be sitting in the cockpit of a boat
with his hands clasped, and a silly grin on his puss.

I'd say that if you had him on your boat (gawd save us) that this would be the
best designated position for him although hands in pockets might be safer for
all concerned, considering his "know-it-all" tendencies.

Not sitting at a nav station, is he? I guess someone else had "rock
detail" when that picture was taken.
