There's a buyer for anything. I just sold an Edson Pedestal guard top
Plate(brand new) to a fellow from (get this) Dodge City Kansas. He is a non sailor, but hopes to retire to the Phillipenes someday and build a boat. It seems, he is buying out the boat on ebay, item by item as they come up. I can't figure it though, he didn't buy the guard itself which I had listed seperately, but in the same time frame. Go figure. The most rediculous thing I ever sold was a 15" X 3/32nd" wire pennent that secured the jib to the deck on my old boat. An assembly of two eyes, two nicopress fittings, and 20" of wire that cost me $7.00 to make up 10 years ago, and would cost $10.00 today. The fellow paid $13.00 incl. shipping. I'm convinced. I don't through anything away anymore without checking ebay first. I bought a new computer on ebay and found that there was a big market for old software. Bingo. I just sold an old laptop not worth more than $50 for nearly $200.
The guy knew exactly what he was bidding on, even emailed me ahead of time, and then got into a bidding war with someone else. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... I'm convinced. I to, sold an ancient Notebook (an ancient Twinbook of all things) for a lot. The guy needed it because it happened to fit perfectly into his studio panel and system (he was a composer). Worth 20 bucks to me...went for 175 bucks. Everyone was happy. RB |

Your right there is a buyer for everything and the best part about ebay is those buyers bid stuff up to what you could walk into a store and buy it new for. I have followed auctions of items that I have already bought retail at
on line marine stores and am amazed at how few people do their homework. Many, many times the item goes for more than I paid for it. I guess its the" Auction Curse". The "winner" pays the highest price. On 17 Feb 2004 23:48:49 GMT, (SAIL LOCO) wrote: I'm convinced. I don't through anything away anymore without checking ebay first. I guess its the" Auction Curse". The "winner" pays the highest price. I've gotten a few deals on Ebay. Sometimes the seller puts the item in the wrong area or sets his auction to end at a dumb time. I got a mainsheet assembly for 18 bucks, a Davis Mk15 Sextant for 55, a New Sony 7600GR for 64 bucks! And so on. Part of the trick is to not get frustrated and keep looking. If you don't have fun you'll probably never find a deal. RB |

There's a buyer for anything. Are you sure? I tried selling myself on the street corner and had no takers. Should I try again? Suzy |
