Warning! Not for people why don't like big boats that race with more than 10 degrees heel. http://www.sfb.rwth-aachen.de/~vdb/S.../ST2_1994D.jpg Nice shot. Prada in the background is at about 32 degrees. Alinghi is heeling much much less, the mast is hidden so can't really tell. www.cei.soton.ac.uk/assets/ library/images/sailing.jpg 22 degrees. Kiwis sailing the AC winner fully powered up! http://www.sfb.rwth-aachen.de/~vdb/S...linghi%201.jpg 29 degrees. I think you need to get your protractor calibrated. Only one boat heeled more than you said, one close (and that was at an angle that exaggerates heel angle) and one not even. If you were to look at 100 end-on shots of IACC boats racing, I think you'd find that the average heel angle is closer to 15 than 30. But what do I know? DSK |
