Not knowing the meaning of "better" is how you ended up with a Siedlemann.
Dang. True. But the other side is that Scotty was warned off by a few. He just wanted 30 feet in the same way Gayanzy wants 8 inches. A good friend of mine wanted a 33-35 footer, but when she saw how far the money would go, she set her sights on a 29-30 footer with about 20K to spend. I think Scotty spent 2 or 3K on his boat and he was taken. When it comes to boats One man's garbage is...another man's garbage. Too bad Scotty has yet to learn this. RB |

I know boatyards that will not haul a Mac (or old wooden boats for that
matter), and don't like to haul a Siedleman, but will haul most anything else. I specifically asked about a Siedleman because I knew of two available (one abandoned in a yard, the other a repo). The Siedlemans seemed to look to be okay sailors, but I understand they can have structural issues when on jack stands. is still better than a Siedleman or Mac and probably some Lancers. RB yeaaaahhhh. |

Been aborad both Siedlemans and a US Yacht. Never sailed any. Have seen US
Yachts sail and they don't sail any better than their Bucaneer ancestors. The Siedlemans I hav seen sailing (including your own) seemed to sail decently. You ever sail one jaxy? "JAXAshby" wrote in message ... I've been aboard two Siedlemanns. They are worse, perhaps as bad as the US Yachts. The only thing worse than seeing one is meeting the poor fool who bought it. RB Siedlemanns were (not many left) pretty bad, but US Yachts is what became of Bucaneer. |

I knew of two available (one
abandoned in a yard, the other a repo) If you're still over at Styvesant there's a larger one (not sure if it's over 33 feet) available cheap. My friend took a look and was warned away by anyone and everyone. The reputation of these boats, along with Mac and US Yachts, Bucaneer...all among the worst of the worst. RB |

I tried to sell it a year ago for 2K or less. No takers. If Scotty wanted a boat to fix up, he should have started with an old Pearson, Alberg or even a Catalina. At least he would have had something in the end...and some dignity. RB |

Seidlemans are not on my list.
My next boat will be less a LIS/Chesey lite winds boat than the Siedleman is. Looked at an Ingrid recently (fine, fine hull and rigging, 1940's farmhouse/kitchen type interior that could not be remedied without total removal), though I think I prefer something smaller than an Ingrid.
