You didn't hear this from me eg . Keep a bottle of "dove" dishwater
soap on hand, and squirt it on the oil ..... don't get caught doing this, as it's also illegal and will get you into even deeper trouble.(all you do here is disperse the oil, not remove it) Even better, keep a bunch of absorbent pads onboard, ready for use. Many times if the spill is real small and they see you are making an effort, that will suffice, but no guarantees ..... there's a good deal to be said for fessing up early.
