You didn't hear this from me eg . Keep a bottle of "dove" dishwater
soap on hand, and squirt it on the oil ..... don't get caught doing
this, as it's also illegal and will get you into even deeper
trouble.(all you do here is disperse the oil, not remove it)

Even better, keep a bunch of absorbent pads onboard, ready for use. Many
times if the spill is real small and they see you are making an effort,
that will suffice, but no guarantees ..... there's a good deal to be
said for fessing up early.

boat and pointing at them?

Chuck a bucket of water with some detergent in it around your boat.

Here's an idea for actually removing the oil: If it's a small spill and
you have time (and the inclination), you could tow a polyprop line
around the spill. This will mop it up and contain it at the same time.
Then wash the rope elsewhere...

Dawn or Palmolive dish detergent will take it to the bottom....but =
you're not s'posed to do that....Goof Off or 409 with ororange oil will =
also disperse it if sprayed on the contaminated water....but you're not =
s'posed to do that either....
