Default A Night to Remember

Last night we re-screened the Criterion remastered DVD of A Night to Remember.
Once again, if you haven't seen this recently, I urge you to take a look at the
DVD, which also features info on the (still alive at that time) survivors who
visited the sets and ship mock-ups.
It is superior to Titanic in most respects. The scene where a husband lies to
his wife so she'll get into a lifeboat is heartwrenching. The bit with the band
playing on is exactly as we've seen in Titanic, only in this version it's timed
better and the effect is again, heartbreaking.
A Night to Remember;s accuracy may now be questioned, but as a sea-disaster
movie it is head and shoulders above the rest. There are no sensational moments
of Hollywood values because it's not a Hollywood picture. The material and the
reality of the event are treated with respect and dignity.
This is a perfect Holliday film. It can remind us in strong terms about the
value of life and how it sometimes falls second to honor. **** out of ****
See it again soon.

Is there some reason why you just can't say .... last night we watched a movie?
What's with this ...we screened crap? Your not a Hollywood producer.

The word "screened" has nothing particular to do with Hollywood.

Screen (N) 5 a (1) : to present (as a motion picture) for viewing on a screen
(2) : to view the presentation of (as a motion picture) b : to present in a
motion picture

It means the same thing. However, we enjoy our movies and enjoy the details. A
touch of my RCM100 remote dims the lights, brings up the curtain light, starts
the amps, switches system to HT mode. I rebalance the audio based on content
prior to watching and do 9 point conversion every week. If you could see and
hear how beautiful the remastered Once Upon a Time in the West was on a modern
system you'd understand. Coming soon: HD projection from Runco!

I guess he thinks the rest of us are still watching 4:3 B&W.

We are. We screened Treasure of Siera Madre on the Wega a few nights ago. It's
best to have both systems for now. 16X9 sets don't like 4:3 material.
