Well your portable VHF is not leagl on shore, so a CB would make sense to
communicate with crewmembers on shore. Yes, I'll see if the FRS/GMRS do the trick 1st, since they were a gift. I test in PA made 3 miles fairly easily. They claim 5. Maybe they'll do that over water. But if someone's ashore, behind buildings, range is greatly reduced. RB |

FRS works just fine for most situations. When greater range is needed, we use
our cell phones. Cell phones work great, we've tried AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. Verizon is the best so far, but we still lose signal plenty of times. Anyway...probably won't bother with CBs...just wondering.. RB |
