Well your portable VHF is not leagl on shore, so a CB would make sense to
communicate with crewmembers on shore.


Yes, I'll see if the FRS/GMRS do the trick 1st, since they were a gift. I test
in PA made 3 miles fairly easily. They claim 5. Maybe they'll do that over
water. But if someone's ashore, behind buildings, range is greatly reduced.
