Does anyone here use CB radios on their boats?

No why? I did just buy a pair of FR to take to the islands for 2 way between
boat and tender.

I also have a pair of the Motorola GMRS 1 watt units. But two CB walkie talkies
would have far better range. Someone should make a waterproof set.

For when he gets lonely at night, he can talk to the truckers on I 95.

Well your portable VHF is not leagl on shore, so a CB would make sense to
communicate with crewmembers on shore.

Yes, I'll see if the FRS/GMRS do the trick 1st, since they were a gift. I test
in PA made 3 miles fairly easily. They claim 5. Maybe they'll do that over
water. But if someone's ashore, behind buildings, range is greatly reduced.

FRS works just fine for most situations. When greater range is needed, we use
our cell phones.

Cell phones work great, we've tried AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
Verizon is the best so far, but we still lose signal plenty of times.
Anyway...probably won't bother with CBs...just wondering..

Bought one once. Turned it on. Half an hour later removed it from use.
Somehow umpteen channels of constant !@#$%^&expletive deleted and inane
redneck wannabe slanguage was not my cup of tea. Comes from having an IQ
above 10 I reckon fershurefershure. Who said, "We are a people separated by
a common language?" CB'ers are the one group who fail to qualify for
membership. Get one BS I think you will fit in quite well actually.
