My father died when he was 79 and my mother when she was 80.

I'd say they both beat the actuary tables for people of their
generation. Anyhow, having longevity in one's family is not
necessarily an indication that YOU are going to survive that
long. So go on dreaming. Your life is useless at best so whats
the glory in dreaming about it lasting for a hundred years?

A hundred years of uselessness is pretty useless.
