Oh yes, I forgot, you can outrun the radio waves in a Mercedes.
Receiving in a car shouldn't be a problem unless you're locked in the trunk. I often use my old Apelco (the one resurrected from the dead after being submerged for a hour or so, and has a home made battery pack) in the car because my route to the marina varies if the harbor is shut down during an LNG delivery. Not only is there a "moving safety zone" around the tanker, but the Tobin Bridge is closed and cleared, with snipers positioned. BTW, my primary handheld is a Standard HX460. I don't know how it compares to the Simrad, but it is metal, seems rather tough, its submersible, comes with 1100 mAh battery plus AC/DC chargers, and it has WX band. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ...
