Default VHF Q? Bart?

Was this "other night" about a week ago following the Great Solar Mass Ejection?

While listening to Uncle NOAA the other night, my radio started cutting out,
intermittently. Reaching for the radio, as I touched the mike cord the radio
worked fine. When I let go, static. then the next morning, it seemed to
work just fine. Someone suggested a bad ant. gound (?). What do you think?

You have to stay up on the weather if you want to be a real sailor:
http://www.sec.noaa.gov/

archives at:
http://www.sec.noaa.gov/alerts/archive.html

one can see that a few weeks ago it was pretty intense:

compared to the beginning of the year:
