Getting ready to drop my mooring for the winter.......

I'm just going to run a line from the chain to the shore.....

Or I might get a smaller ball so it is below the ice...

Any radical/new ways of doing this?

I love the winter.....they only time you can drink beer on the
deck.....without having to use a ice box......

Whew! Had me so worried a nightmare brought me an icy cold Guinness ....

Polyprop floating line .... about 20 feet. A piece of 2x4 about a foot long
with a hole drilled through the center.
Run the rope through the 2x4 and tie it off... put the other end on the
chain for your mooring. Toss the works over and pick it up at low tide next
year with a boat hook.

Works every time....

Forgot to add.... there is a river that flows into the basin.....
Lots of ice flow........would the 2x4 be carried away?
