Default What should you enter in your log?

"The Captains Master" wrote in message

Seeing as how there has been so much discussion about logs, and after
reading Donals poor example,I thought it might be a good idea to
discuss what information should be entered in this official and in
some cases legally bound document.

I'll start!

A crew list.

Intended destination (or route if going out for a short sail).

Default What should you enter in your log?

What you enter in your log..... is far different than what you enter in
your pre-departure checklist... which is what you bozos have reduced this
to.

Log:
Departure Time
Tide
Weather [Temp/Barometer/ Visual]
Course Mag
Course true
Variation
Chart Number
Engine Hours
[Deviation tables on inside cover]
Course changes + times
Fixes [methods utilized including references]
Drift and Set
Log data - [average speed]
Notes regarding uncharted obstructions, general conditions, watch changes,
helm changes, sail set and trim, etc.

Hope that clears things up for everyone!
