Here's my challenge. You sail down to Balt. I'll race you back up to Atl.
Highlands. Any week in Sept./Oct.

I'm afraid I haven't the time, but my invite to you remains open.
You'd lose that "race" anyway.

Are you really busy for the whole of Sept/Oct?

Nope...plenty of time to sail, but not enough days in a row to make the trip.
Season ends here October 31.

How could he lose after you refused to turn up?

I'm not

Do you have any free time during November?

I do

Bertie

Season ends here October 31.

Is that a NY law? or just another one of your lame excuses?

More proof that Scotty knows nothing. Yup, October 31st is a significant date
for boaters in NY. Look it up or ask around.

They shut down the matrix.

Close...but wrong as always. Nearly every boat comes out of the water on
October 31st here.

Insurance ends at marinas and clubs.
All city run marinas close.
Most clubs close.
Private insurance doesnt cover winter sailing (Boat US and others here) unless
specified.
The only boats that stay in the water here are people who own their own slips
or have live-aboard status at certain clubs.

Do you mean their public liability cover?

All city run marinas close.

Why? Surely they can still make money by staying open?

Most clubs close.

My local club has night races almost into December, with an off-season early
in the new year, reopening sometime around March. Do NY winters arrive in
November?

I would have thought that winter sailing would be covered unless
specifically excluded - I'm sure my policy is for a year. Does your
insurance policy state that it only covers a specific period during the
year? When does it restart?

My local, city run, marina stays open year round. The only boats that come
out are those that need anti-fouled, or those that won't be sailed until
next season (so are taken out to reduce fouling, or because the owners want
to save pontoon fees by parking on the hard for a few months).
