Getting Ready, Bill!
When destinations and time frames are involved ... most certainly.
Especially when you take advantage of your prerogative to boast about it. CM "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... | Odd... you've stated repeatedly that your "plan" was to make Thimble Islands | by midday Saturday... that you would hail Bill from noon to 6 pm and that | you would be returning on Sunday? | | What is odd about this? Do you usually make "firm" plans when sailing? We | don't. | | RB |

"Capt. Mooron" wrote: So in effect you are now stating that you cannot make the destination and your previous claim of a mid-day arrival was in error? Really Bob... this is becoming very lame. You've milked the girls on my boat thing till the teats are dry. Dear Capt Mooron, If you wish to maintain your credibility in this unseemly exchange with Bobsprit, it is absolutely essential that you demonstrate how you verified that last statement. -- Flying Tadpole ------------------------- Learn what lies below the waves of cyberspace! http://www.internetopera.netfirms.com |

Awww c'mon. It'll be dark and just radio conatct will be made ... from
his car. Cheers MC Capt. Mooron wrote: I can't see your supposition that you would be anywhere near your proposed destination until Saturday evening with your current plan. Approach and contact does not constitute arrival by any stretch of the imagination. How do you propose obtaining photos and still allowing yourself adequate time to undertake a return trip if you proceed to the Thimbles and anchor? If I undertook to plan passage by your yard stick... I could claim landfall in Mahone Bay by making VHF contact with the dock master from East Ironbound Island, 15 miles short of the destination and call it done. If Bill shows or not isn't relevant.... what is at question here is that your claims are failing to meet logistical reality. I can understand why Binary Bill is have a hearty guffaw at your expense. I would advise you abandon your current regime of failure based strategies. Passage plan for safety and sufficient time to enjoy your destination. Consistent failures will eventually and detrimentally effect your self confidence in regards to sailing. You previously claimed that your wife was the navigator on your vessel... are you relying on her planning to substantiate your claims? Please inform her that Capt. Mooron urges her to reassess her current plan and factor in sufficient time to undertake the trip. It's unfortunate that you have a well equipped vessel that under proper command would easily negotiate even a moonless evening landfall or anchorage in complete safety and yet you seem unable to utilize your vessel to it's obvious potential. This is a problem that will haunt you through successive vessels. No matter how fine the ship or how fantastic the deal.... your inability to utilize the boat to it's potential will negate any claim of a superior vessel. CM "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... | So in effect you are now stating that you cannot make the destination and | your previous claim of a mid-day arrival was in error? | | Never said I'd be there by midday. It's simple he doesn't know anything about DR or passage planning. then
again he's not the skipper. Cheers MC Capt. Mooron wrote: "Bobsprit" wrote in message It's interesting that any of you feel the need to a "plan" | when sailing short distances. The Thimble Islands is quite close. We sailed | further with Ghost. It's local. What I find "interesting" is your assumption that no "plan" is required when sailing to a schedule.... which is exactly what you are doing Bob. Logistics that involve the terms "around", "about", "if" and "when" beg for address as to their value. Please define your definition of "local" . I doubt it requires provisioning and multi-day planning. It seems you feel that we are overly concerned about your venture ... this is not the case... you are sailing in protected waters with a sound vessel. The issue I'm attempting to address with you is your expectations versus reality. Can you provide the weather forecast, tide, distances, wind conditions, estimated points of sail, expected conditions and time frames of your "local" trip to the Thimbles in a coherent and informative manner so as we may have the opportunity to review it properly? This is after all a sailing news group and you did request that I concentrate on "On-Topic" subject matter.... I'm requesting further clarification of your claims. CM |
Getting Ready, Bill!
I've asked some fairly honest sailing oriented questions
regarding passage planning and navigation. About a 75 mile trip? Oh, okay. RB |
