Getting Ready, Bill!

So in effect you are now stating that you cannot make the destination and
your previous claim of a mid-day arrival was in error?

Never said I'd be there by midday. Only said I'd be reachable on the radio by
mid day which I maintain.
Channel 9. Bill will either show or he won't. On monday there will be proof I
was there.

It seems
like your only plans are dedicated to provisions and pastimes.

We'll be there, Mooron. It's not far, fer cripes sake. No wind, we'll power.
Too much wind, we'll reef. T-Storm, we'll ride it out.
Jeepers! Channel 9.

It won't happen because it can't happen.... that's a given with his
existing plan.

We won't make Thimble Islands by Saturday?
Okay.

Capt. Mooron August 21st 03 07:48 PM

Getting Ready, Bill!

I can't see your supposition that you would be anywhere near your proposed
destination until Saturday evening with your current plan. Approach and
contact does not constitute arrival by any stretch of the imagination. How
do you propose obtaining photos and still allowing yourself adequate time to
undertake a return trip if you proceed to the Thimbles and anchor? If I
undertook to plan passage by your yard stick... I could claim landfall in
Mahone Bay by making VHF contact with the dock master from East Ironbound
Island, 15 miles short of the destination and call it done.

If Bill shows or not isn't relevant.... what is at question here is that
your claims are failing to meet logistical reality. I can understand why
Binary Bill is have a hearty guffaw at your expense. I would advise you
abandon your current regime of failure based strategies. Passage plan for
safety and sufficient time to enjoy your destination. Consistent failures
will eventually and detrimentally effect your self confidence in regards to
sailing.

You previously claimed that your wife was the navigator on your vessel...
are you relying on her planning to substantiate your claims? Please inform
her that Capt. Mooron urges her to reassess her current plan and factor in
sufficient time to undertake the trip.

It's unfortunate that you have a well equipped vessel that under proper
command would easily negotiate even a moonless evening landfall or anchorage
in complete safety and yet you seem unable to utilize your vessel to it's
obvious potential. This is a problem that will haunt you through successive
vessels. No matter how fine the ship or how fantastic the deal.... your
inability to utilize the boat to it's potential will negate any claim of a
superior vessel.

You don't have to say "Channel 9" to Mooron - he won't be in range, and
might not even be listening. Or is that a trendy new way to sign off your
postings? "Yeah! Channel 9! Groovy!"

Bob... you are myopic in your assessment of my critique of your passage
planning. I've stated that your total routing will leave you insufficient
time to make the Thimble Islands destination for anything more than an
evening anchor. I doubt you will realize the destination because your return
leg will enforce an early departure for a full day of sailing to make the
one day passage that you allowed two days to achieve on the first leg. Can
you see why my assessment of your chances for success are so negative. I
forecast you will reassess and turn back before reaching the Thimbles solely
based on your current plans.

Your grasp has exceed your reach. Lower your expectations and achieve
success. I believe your destination is as probable as the chances of my ever
seeing an mpeg of you sailing on a reach with the helm free.... let alone an
engine hour meter.

not to mention the video of his donuts, or his ''trip to nowhere'' that he
bragged about and then chickened out.

He won't be in range all day? He won't listen to his radio all day?
Oh.
