I'd purchase the shelf if it were mine. An end plate makes
a lot of sense on a mainsail.

Neal,

Sail maker said shelve can be added anytime. No problem. He suggested I
sail awhile with the foot free. Said I'd probably like it. If not a
shelve can be added

North used 'I' as the foot in the old literature. Don't make
me scan it and post it to make you out to be more of a
fool than you already are.

North does NOT use I for the foot. Old Thom used the proper "E".

Ey --- Give me a break!!!

North uses I for the foot.

I knew what Old Thom meant because I am a sailor
who is familiar with any and all sailing terms. The older
terms are much more sensible than the new crap that
some lubber came up with.

I is the foot of the mainsail, silly.

I is 10'? Is that some kind of a 3/8 fractional rig? What's

your
"J"
measurement? About 3'?

I is too long, my I is 10 feet (probably not a problem).

I have round slides (problem).

The tack offset is about right, boltrope for boom is right.

The main problem is it's too tall. Close but no banana!

Thanks, Thom, but it wouldn't fit and it's probably more worn

out
than mine because you motor most of the time with the sail
flogging like Booby does.

Hey Neal,

I just thoughtof something. North is giving me 25% off the

purchase
price ($368.00) What are your dimension of your main? They

can't
be
that
far off of mine. For $368 you have a huge improvement on

your
boat.
This
sail is only 14 years old and in good condition but would

need a
tuck
taken in it.
Spec;= E=10' 4"
P=31'
Sail Area=160 Sq Ft
Two Reefs, plus a flatting reef ( Which I have been sailing

the
last
two
years
3/4" flat sail slides for mast, 3/8" bolt rope for boom. 4"

tack
off
set

It's yours for $368, if you're interested

During Bay Week, Horvath was sailing on a Kirby 25. The owner liked
racing with a loose footed main, and took the main out of the track,
but during the first race, the barrel jumped out of the track, and the
main was held down only by the outhaul.
