Pneuma's New Main
Hey Neal,
I just thoughtof something. North is giving me 25% off the purchase price ($368.00) What are your dimension of your main? They can't be that far off of mine. For $368 you have a huge improvement on your boat. This sail is only 14 years old and in good condition but would need a tuck taken in it. Spec;= E=10' 4" P=31' Sail Area=160 Sq Ft Two Reefs, plus a flatting reef ( Which I have been sailing the last two years 3/4" flat sail slides for mast, 3/8" bolt rope for boom. 4" tack off set It's yours for $368, if you're interested Ole Thom |

P is to long, my P is 27 feet (problem). I is too long, my I is 10 feet (probably not a problem). I have round slides (problem). The tack offset is about right, boltrope for boom is right. The main problem is it's too tall. Close but no banana! Thanks, Thom, but it wouldn't fit and it's probably more worn out than mine because you motor most of the time with the sail flogging like Booby does. "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... They make them in SE Asia (Taiwan, I think). Very cheap labor.

All the racers have loose footed mains, easier to take off also. John Cairns That proves my point. If all races have loose-footed mains then they are not as well-suited for cruising. You idiots with your racing mentality make me want to puke. Automobile racers use fuel cells instead of fuel tanks; does that mean you should have a fuel cell in your Toyota? Stop already with the idiotic thinking that racing crap has any place on a cruising boat. S.Simon |

Neal,
I wish you could have been here. You would have laughed your ass off. I had to make a special trip to pick up bronze wool to clean the boom track, so the outhaul car would travel cleanly. Removed the cunningham hook so the sail would feed in and slide (that outhaul car hasn't been that far up the boom in 14 years) The outhaul line is internal in the boom and runs to the goose neck. I figured I could feed the bolt rope at the mast and draw it home with the out haul. With the wind piping up, I was going as fast as I could go. I took the new main out of the bag, located the leech corner with out unrolling the sail (so it wouldn't get blown into the water) Started to feed the foot into the boom slot. Surprise, surprise. It wouldn't stay in the track. I had spent over an hour on prep that wasn't necessary. By now the wind is blowing, gangbusters. One of my Dock buddies came aboard and helped me set the full battens. He couldn't understand how they went. Had to explain how the pocket closures worked. Thank the Lord he came to help. I wouldn't have made it without him. I even mentioned your name and Bobsprit's. I gave thanks neither one of you were here Thought I'd give you a run down so you and RB could have your laugh Ole Thom |

So, what you're saying is, you like to sail as slowly as possible?

I is 10'? Is that some kind of a 3/8 fractional rig? What's your "J"
measurement? About 3'? -- ---- Steve S/V Pony Express "Simple Simon" wrote in message ... P is to long, my P is 27 feet (problem). I is too long, my I is 10 feet (probably not a problem).
