IIRC, the spot he's talking about, the entrance to Manhasset, has a serious current. 2

We actually had higher wind funneling out of Manhasset bay's entrance. Calmed down after we sailed in a bit. Knotmeter read 8.5 a few times on a reach. The GPS was at 9 once, Ahhhhh! Now it's the GPS that read 9. Honestly, I could get 13 knots through the Alderny Race if the boat was only doing 4 kts. It didn't take much to expose that particular lie! Regards Donal -- |
