removing old names?
I know it's been covered, but I don't remember what the best way was to get
old names off transoms. I have paint as well as vinyl stickies to deal with. Was it oven cleaner that was suggested? The new documentation papers say I need to get the name and hailing port changed "before operating the boat" which will be in a couple of weeks when I bring her up from Ensenada across the border into the US. By the way, in case you were wondering. It's OK getting paid to sail that 50' catamaran up and down the coast all day, but I don't think I'd want to do it more than this one season. There's the distraction from all the beautiful, scantily clad women (I have the best one waiting for me at home), the irritation from the darn dolphins and sea lions always getting in my way, and the people insulting me by offering $100 tips for two hour trips, among other things, that really kind of spoil it. But when I can sail that great heavy barge 5 knots for hours, dead down wind, wing and wing, without the need for a whisker pole or preventer (main traveled clear over, and the natural spread of the genoa sheeting point doing the trick) listening to some good reggae and soaking up the beauty of the Santa Barbara coastline, well, it's almost worth it. I really do miss the long hours cooped up in a tiny office staring at a computer screen and having you all as the only entertainment available in the midst of stress-filled days, honest! Thanks in advance for any ideas about getting the old name off my "new" boat. Life's a beach, then you go sailing, Mike www.sailinglinks.com |

Nice-looking boat but too large to be practical.

You'll need two bottles of good liquor, a virgin and 2 ceremonies. First the
removal of the old name and all references to it on the vessel, equipment and remove the old logs. Have a denaming ceremony and announce to Neptune the decommissioning of the old name. Use your imagination and do up some nice words. Place the new name on the boat..... then have a christening with the new name... make certain a virgin christens the vessel. [ I borrowed my friend's 4 year old daughter to swing the bottle to make sure] Drink the spare bottle in celebration on your first trip out with the renamed vessel. ????? What the hell are you going on about now??? Does the mention of
young girls and virginity cause you to feel sexual urges... you should have that looked into Cappy... it's seriously sick. Who the hell is "Chistie"??? No wonder you can't carry on a relationship with a mature female.... let alone a conversation. I bet your problem is you can't pop a woody anymore! Talk to Horvath... he seems to be in the same dilemma. The pair of you are Viagra candidates. CM "Simple Simon" wrote in message ... | | "Capt. Heh it wasn't me that got all excited at the mention of underage virgins
Cappy! I think from the photos prove that Bob has no problem with finding women to sail with.... you haven't shown photo one of a female on your boat? [photshop wishes notwithstanding] Before your mouth starts writing checks your boat hasn't a dream of cashing.... check sail calc and see how the vessels compare. you haven't a snowball's chance in hell of sailing against my superior boat.... even considering your coastal cruiser as a possible challenge is as delusional as the probability of you finding a woman you don't have to pay for ... in advance and by the minute. You and | Bobsprit need to get together for a date or something. | | Maybe he could even teach you how to sail and if not | at least he could teach you how to purchase a decent | boat - you know, something that gets out of its own way. | | | "Capt. That's with the 100% jib and is a great number for
the Trades where she resides. If the winds should lighten up it is very easy to HANK ON a larger headsail to raise the SA/Disp ratio to levels well above what the heavy and slow Nordica carries.
