Why is 8 tons wrong? And the CG doesn't list the draft at all - it doesn't figure in.
Its possible your boat was hand measured, but I doubt it was the CG fault if there was a
discrepancy.

BTW, my cat, which weighs less than your C&C, measures at 22 tons.

LOA = 31.6 CG says 31.4 Wrong!
Draft = 5.8 CG says 5.0 Wrong!
Beam = Correct

Perhaps it was dropped?

Hmmmmm....My keel is compressed? I thought it fell off for 30 degree heeling in
8 knots!

The CG doesn't list draft anywhere. Where are you reading that?

And it isn't the CG fault; its the responsibility of the first person to document. In my
case, the numbers were supplied in the builder's certificate, but I don't know how it was
done originally for your boat.

It was done by the original owner. I can't update until next July. I guess
until then I can enjoy a bit less draft.

Look at your certificate again, booby. It doesn't list the draft at all.

Look at your certificate again, booby. It doesn't list the draft at all.

Jeff, it lists the following specs:

Gross Tonnage-8 GRT, Net Tonnage-7NRT, Length-31.4, Breadth-10.3, Depth-5.0
The depth is listed in the upper right of the certificate. It's in front of me
as I write.

As I said, it doesn't list draft. The item called "Depth" is not the same as draft. It
is measured from the deck to the bottom of the hull, though it depends on the design of
the boat. In your case it doesn't include the keel or coach. Remember that the "tonnage"
is a measure of volume, not weight, so the freeboard gets included.

http://www.uscg.mil/hq/msc/t3/cg5397/cg5397.pdf

DEPTH (D) is the vertical distance taken at or near amidships from a line drawn
horizontally through the uppermost edges of the skin (outside planking or plating) at the
sides of the hull (excluding the cap rail, trunks, cabins and deckhouses, and deck caps)
to the outboard face of the bottom skin of the hull, excluding the keel. If your vessel is
designed for sailing and the interface between the "keel" and the "bottom skin of the
hull" is not at a clearly defined location (as is the case with an "integral" or "faired"
keel), include the keel in the depth measurement.
