Default help setting up timing on old yamaha?

Hi
I have just aquired a cheap Yamaha Outboard which I am in the process of
servicing.

Can any one tell me the appropriate points gap and timing degrees for my
8HP Yamaha, Model 8B, serial number 677S005141 I believe its 1977 ?

It would seem to be impossible to buy a manual for a 1977 Yamaha, would a
Mariner Manual for that period cover this model as I understand Yamaha
used to make some of the older Mariners ?

I would also appreciate any links for further information on this engine.

Thanks

Thanks for that, Seloc and Clymer manuals don't go back beyond 1984 but I
will sound out the factory manual option though I suspect they may be
expensive.

Thankyou

That would be great it is mainly the timing degrees, timing setting
technique, points gap and synching timing and carbs that I am trying to
sort out.

I don't know if the 8A is similar to the 8B but it sounds likely

I will mail you with details

Thanks
