Default Once more into the breach dear friends!

The season of goodwill will soon be upon us all. Once again, nestled amongst
the Christmas cards, will be the annual crop of late access requests - their
envelopes marked URGENT or PLEASE OPEN FIRST!

In the past we have received 1st class post (around Christmas) that has taken
as long as 8 days to get to us!

So, a few hints (most of which apply for the whole season, not just Xmas)

Hint one: Don't send access requests for trips to take place around Christmas
any less than 10 days before - I would like to stop thinking about Dart Access
and concentrate on the family festivities a little more than 24 hours before
Christmas Day!

Hint two: When enquiring about access by e mail and having been asked to send
confirmation, SAE, cheque etc by post, PLEASE don't send a note simply saying
"Could I be sent the tickets for the Dart as requested in my e mail?" Quite
apart from the fact that I then have to search through the 50 or so messages
for the past month (sometimes longer) before I find it, some people's e mail
addresses bear absolutely no relation to their real names. This makes finding
the said message extremely difficult - can you imagine how few variations there
are in the subject lines? "Dart Access", "Access for the Loop", "Access", "Dart
tickets" !!
Even putting the dates in the subject line won't help if the note doesn't
mention the dates.

Hint three: Put something in the subject line that identifies the message to
you.

Hint four: If you offer some alternative dates in their order of preference it
will save a lot of back and forth communication before your trip is booked.

Hint five: Please don't forget the SAE, cheque and BCU numbers! (club or
personal) or, for non members, the day ticket fee.

As I speak the Dart Access elves are sorting all the tickets into their
envelopes and the big green boxes for the postie are slowly filling - tonight
we've got as far as surnames beginning with B!

We have been informed there will be no shuttle bus and no showers at the
RiverDart Adventures Country Park. There will be parking, toilets and changing
facilities, as well as the usual bar, shop, cafe etc..

October is nearly here, have a good season.
