Yikes! Where to start!. Just pick a spot and go. Cortes Island is a
wonderful place to start any trip into Desolation Sound, or up the
Strait.

Vancouver Airport is the best place to start, saves you from
bus&ferry-fares. There is a river some kilometers north-east from the
Airport terminal.

I have once done it almost like that. I started from Granville Island
and paddled to Port Hardy in three weeks.
