Default Mid-Hudson Valley

Does anyone know of some good locations in the mid-Hudson valley NY area for
touring. My wife and I frequent the Hudson river and local inlets in the
area of Kingston and Tivoli and are looking for some interesting places
within a few hours drive.

Also if anyone is interested in finding out more about some areas to paddle
in the Kingston / Tivoli area of the Hudson river let me know and I will
provide our personal experience.

Also we are open to group trips if anyone would like to paddle together.

Thanks, Steve

The Constitution Marsh, opposite West Point, is pretty amazing.
It's fragile, so you're not supposed to go in other than at high
tide, and when the water is up it's tough to get under the bridges,
but it's a short portage over the high speed rail tracks. ;-)

Well worth it, and a fairly short paddle up past Cold Springs (which
has a lovely kayak shop) to Bannerman Island, which is private
property, but the sight of the crumbling mansion is nice.

There was a good article in Sea Kayaker magazine within the last year or
so. Unfortunately I can't put my hands on my copy right now. Perhaps
someone who has one could photocopy it for you? :-) If I find my copy,
then I will write back to you off-list.

Check out the HRWA (Hudson River Watertrail Association) on the web:
www.hrwa.org. They have a great guide to the river listing the putins,
distances, etc, etc. It's free when you join. I believe they also run
a list-serve.
