None of these are mine. They were downloaded mainly from several NGs. My apologies to the OPs but I did not record their names. Scanned by Sj. Wonder where I picked this up? ... Maybe from the wallpaper group as I've never visited here before, I don't think. On the major car picture NGs, I have separate folders by OP for all the pictures I download. Those far exceed what I'm interested in for my personal collection and sit on an external HDD to save space on my internal. I've never downloaded enough military, aviation, or nautical pictures to warrant that but maybe I have to rethink my situation. And, because I don't document the OP's name when I save to my own collection, I seldom repost to the same NG because people tend to be peevish when not given credit. So, to Sj, my apologies for not crediting you for some VERY good scans. -- HP, aka Jerry "And, that's all I'm going to say about that" - Forrest Gump |

I never mark my scans so its public property and somtimes I see them posted again;-) Its impossible to know all the scanners. I agree with you on ALL counts, Bouler. When I post, while I legally retain the copyright, I don't push it nor do I put a messy notice on the picture itself. On my later digitals, I do put a copyright notice in EXIF but that is easily deleted. Likewise, I am putting my pictures into a de facto "public domain" simply by posting them anywhere so I don't much care if they are reposted with or without credit. In fact, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." That said, there are MANY people who DO care - a LOT - about either NOT having their pictures posted elsewhere or reposted at all and/or they care a LOT about being given proper credit. Again, this is SUPPOSED to be a fun hobby, that of creating and collecting pictures of things of interest to us whether they be cars or tall ships or airplanes or flowers or architecture or anything, so why make a big deal out of it? Still, even though I've established a bad rep for myself in many NGs, it ISN'T for frivilously reposting other people's pictures! -- HP, aka Jerry "And, that's all I'm going to say about that" - Forrest Gump |

Scanned in 2002, posted/reposted here, artpics, misc, amp, maybe fine-art, a.b.scanmaster, etc so you could have picked it up anywhere ... & -sj at the end of the file name tells me it's my scan ... I don't post to wallpaper, as I scan proportionally for my monitor so don't meet wallpaper dimensions ... Stobart is good ... Sj, as I've said, I really don't recall where I got your scans from, I do know it has been awhile. I monitor some of the NGs you listed above and dozens of others. Not all of them are car NGs by any means. As to "wallpaper" dimensions, that's all been thrown out the window with the current fad of 16:9 widescreen monitors pushing us 4:3 fans to the sidelines. -- HP, aka Jerry "And, that's all I'm going to say about that" - Forrest Gump |

It doesn't matter where you got it ... & I don't post to wallpaper 'cause they want certain dimensions, which get posted every week ... the last time some of the regulars wanted something of mine, which was maritime art, I posted the stuff to misc & here ... My monitor is set at 1280 x 1024 ... those are my guidelines ... I scan first for myself, then I share what I wish to share ... & it most definitely is a hobby ... Agreed, it is a HOBBY! Seems like some folks - not you, me, or Bouler - DO care about getting credit and DO care so much about things like image quality that it becomes an obscession. As to the "wallpaper" folks wanting a specific aspect ratio, that is indeed in their FAQs and in the graphic examples they post once a month. But, whether one likes 1280 x 1024 as you do or 1280 x 960 like I do, it shouldn't really matter to those who READ our work. At one time until just last summer, I always cropped to 4:3 often forcing less than optimal composure in the vain belief that I should try to fill my screen. Then, I started at least looking at wide-screens. Didn't buy one, still don't like them, but I DID rethink my cropping and NOW crop for best composure and aspect ratio be damned. Now, if that gets me in trouble in some NGs, that's OK. -- HP, aka Jerry "And, that's all I'm going to say about that" - Forrest Gump |
