The crank sitting in the bedplate of a 10 cylinder Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96-C
turbocharged two-stroke ship's diesel engine. Photo taken at the Aioi Works
of Japan's Diesel United Ltd.

I once worked on Sulzer engines but nothing as big as this.

Tuppence

Wow, what an interesting job to be involved with. I have a number of
pictures of that engine, I think the largest ever. It is now in a ship
and I heard that it is really fuel efficient. One big engine vs 2
smaller ones.

Largest ever diesel engine (so far) is the 14 cylinder version of this
engine installed in the Emma Maersk and, as you say, it is amazingly
efficient.

Default Engine trouble the other day on my boat. - POWERPOINT PRESENTATION OF EMMA MAERSK

Today I recieved the attached powerpoint presentation in my mail. I think
it's the same enige (and the ship) that this one is about. Apart for4m the
engine pictures, the ship pictures are quite impressive aswell.

Credits go to the original photographer (unknown source)

Enjoy,

Jeroen
