I took one of these from Korcula to Dubrovnic and also Pula to Venice -
both day trips difficult to do any other way. Not just noisy, but smelly
too - though not as bad as the French hovercraft. The finest way to see
Venice, I think is to arrive by sea.

Two Russian Raketa Class hydrofoils also operated on the Thames in
London for a while in the mid-seventies. They attempted to run a
commuter service from Gravesend to the City and Westminster but it was a
commercial flop.
