My guess would be shore power



In the absence of anything else, I was going to guess stray currents
(which may well be from shore power) from the boat of a boater in a nearby
slip or dock.

Yet another reason to avoid outdrives! :)


Good guess but not in this case. No shore power, nobody nearby with shore
power, no stray currents etc. Volvo-Penta says they had a bonding or
adhesion problem with the paint they used on some recent outdrives. We are
working with them to get it repainted.


Were all the anodes in place and properly installed?

Yes... all sal****er zinc anodes, grounding straps etc. This boat is on a
boatlift 85% of the time which makes the thing worse. I am beyond words...
