I think it reasonable for a presidential candidate to know how many
houses he and his wife own. I wonder if McCain knows what a half gallon
of milk or a dozen eggs sell for? I doubt it.

Neither do I. I haven't had a glass of milk or a real, home cooked egg in
about 3 years. So what?

Very rarely. We don't have kids living in the house anymore. There's no
reason for me to be current with the price of a gallon of milk. So, I don't
have a clue, and I don't think it makes any difference if I were running for
public office or not.

I *do* know, based on conversations with my daughter who feeds two growing
boys with bottomless pits and my two sons' wives and their families that
food costs are going out of sight. I know pretty accurately how much they
all spend a week for food.

I think *that's* important to know, not an itemized grocery shopping list.

Ask McCain about the high cost of food. I think he has an idea.
Ask him how much a lb. of boloney costs and I won't hold it against him if
he doesn't have the current answer on the tip of his tongue.

This stupid stuff is nothing but political spin and frankly, it is an insult
to the intelligence of the American people.

Democrats always fall this cult of personality like they have done for
Obama..It is part of their pathology of wanting to be taken care of by
a father figure. Remember how many Dems thought papa Joe Stalin was
ok and they went into near depression when Krushev denounced him?
Remember how many Dems went gaga over Mao? They always do this
because the average Dem isnt smart enough to take care of himself so
they need an authority figure to tell them what to do.

Unfortunately, it's more. It's about power. Scaring the average guy,
promising him security and social welfare is a means of building it.

Personalities and individuals aside, I believe in a system whereby people
are guaranteed the opportunity to take care of themselves and their
families, to whatever level they aspire, in whatever legal means they
desire. Our social obligation is to provide for those that simply cannot,
for whatever physical or mental reason, do it for themselves.

It isn't perfect by any means, but we are obligated to continue working at
it.

One of my fears is that due to the rapid changes in the world today, the
global economy, the rise of the economic strength of other nations, that we
may be duped into the "security" mode of thinking and lose much of what this
country was founded on.

I had a radish, cucumber and three cheese brocolli spread sandwich on
hard rye today at the local lunch emporium - $4.95 with half sour
pickle spear and homemade kettle fried potato chips.

Complimentary sweet tea.

Can't beat it.

Get it - eggs - beat it- good sandwich?

Ok, sorry - that was obtuse.

By the reasoning of HK (we gotta give him some slack, you know how
hard it is for those out of practice), Obama has no relevant
qualifications for pres.
