Individuals who went there, willingly or otherwise, may have acted honorably (or not), but the "mission" itself was a fraud. When the United States was defending a government against whom Buddhist monks protested by setting themselves on fire, its mistakes, at long last, should have become apparent. At the governmental and military institutional level, our involvement in Vietnam mostly was an exercise in deception and corruption. Honorable or not, how do you think your words sound to the Vets that served? Give it a break. |
