A big flat bottom skiff, wide, high sides like this sounds like the deal for you if you can find one. Of course I can tell you how to build one for less than 500 bucks too but that's another story;) Anyway, on a lake with mostly calmer days this boat will travel 15-20+ mph depending on trim and load. They do pound hard in a chop, and with only a slight rake on the sides, they are kind of wet. But that's the tradeoff for the space, speed, and cost. MIne is just a simple plywood skiff, built in my backyard. Like I said, I have a 25horse console steering engine on now, I love it. Scotty from SmallBoats.com RowdyMouseRacing.com *:)- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - I didn't know you had a console in that thing now, I just automatically thought it was a tiller motor.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Nope, I took the 8 off last year and put in a wheel controls and a 25 horse, I have video somewhere, I will see if I can dig it up..- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - I seen a video of you running up and down a lake, but I don't believe I've seen a pic of the controls installed. I'm really interested! Building a boat would be a great father/daughter/son project. |
