You will not get high speeds, maybe less than 10 mph. |

A big flat bottom skiff, wide, high sides like this sounds like the deal for you if you can find one. Of course I can tell you how to build one for less than 500 bucks too but that's another story;) Anyway, on a lake with mostly calmer days this boat will travel 15-20+ mph depending on trim and load. They do pound hard in a chop, and with only a slight rake on the sides, they are kind of wet. But that's the tradeoff for the space, speed, and cost. MIne is just a simple plywood skiff, built in my backyard. Like I said, I have a 25horse console steering engine on now, I love it. Scotty from SmallBoats.com RowdyMouseRacing.com :) |

I think I found something.. a 15 ft 1990 Grummar flat bottom 6ft wide, no
motor with a steering console. (otherwise I'd have to pay around 500. plus tax for that). We are going to get the transom welded to a 20' cause right now its for a short shaft. I think my motor should push this along pretty well. I have my fingers crossed cause I haven't seen the boat yet. Thanks so much for all the help. -rick- wrote: I live in Kitchener Ont, and My cottage is 4 hours away, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to find something used that will work.
