Beautiful day on the Rappahannock...
Finally, got the boat hooked to the 4Runner, launched, broke in the engine
( one hour at 2000rpm and one hour at 3000 rpm), and saw the sites. There really aren't a whole lot of 'sites' to see on the Rappahannock River, but it was fun giving the boat a little workout. The Key West handles beautifully, and does a great job cutting through wakes. The winds were calm today, so there wasn't any 'chop' to try it out in, but the wakes were OK. The 150 Yamaha pushes the hell out of that 18'er. I think it takes about two seconds to get on plane, without going over 3000rpm. It came equipped with the Garmin 440sx chartplotter/sounder/fishfinder which does a great job. The radio is the ICOM M304 which also seems to do the job, although I wasn't 20 miles out in the ocean! I towed it home, and the 4Runner seemed made for the job. Accelerating and braking were done with ease. Going to North Carolina for a week of golf tomorrow, so won't get it into the Bay until the following week. Hope I can find a mess of trout. -- John *H* (Not the other one!) |
