When was the last time you had your eyes checked?

Or have you been color blind your whole life? :)- Hide quoted text -

Actually tom,now that you've mentioned that. at 52 i have 20/10
vision.

However I am a bit color blind. In fact it kept me out of the Marines.

Army didn't mind, though.
=========================

Between you, Dick, Tom, BAR and a couple of others I think we have all
Armed Forces services present here.

Thanks for serving.

BTW: My son is having a blast on Okinawa.

Ask him to look up Michiko in Naha. 8-)

Ah heck, she's probably too old for him now, maybe a grand daughter.

Of course they didn't mind - they are the Army. :)

At 62, I have crap vision uncorrected and a cataract starting in my
right eye.

~~ mutter ~~

Although my night vision is excellent which is unusual.

ROTFL!!!

I spent exactly six hours in Okinawa - never even got past the air
field gate.

I've heard stories though - oh my, I've heard stories. :)

It's good he's getting it out of the way first rather than later. From
what I've heard, it's a lot of fun when you are younger and fresh out
of boot.

Used to be being stationed on Okinawa was like being in the Pirate
Navy with Pirate Marines. :)

Or so I've been told. Don't know if it's the same way today.

I arrived there by ship in 1959 and I can still remember the terrible odor
we started smelling shortly after the island was in sight.

The open sewerage in use at that time, like running right down the streets,
was not a pretty sight and the stink, I'll leave that to your imagination.

I remember my first liberty off the base. A couple of us shared a cab into
town and as soon as we arrived mother nature called, number two. I walking
into a gas station where the WC (water closet) was located in an adjacent
building. I opened the door and there was a hole in floor for making a
deposit. For some reason I lost the urge.

Ah, the good ole days. Wouldn't trade them for all the tea in china.

and it looks like the Ranger came through the winter just fine.
Probably just a quick wash and light wax, power wash the interior and
we're off and running.

The new hull bottom looks real good - changed the lines of the boat
quite a bit - I didn't notice that when I picked it up in December.
Here's some images.

Season's getting closer - maybe first run next week.

Ummmm.....

Put the cover back on. Snow is forecast for tonight.

My brother was a spook in the Navy stationed on Okinawa.
Hasn't walked correctly since.

Of course it's going to snow - I took the cover off the boat.

If I had waited until May 30th, it would have snowed then.

It snows every time I take the cover off - it's a fact of life that
I've had to deal with for years.

When I had the Contenders, they were splashed on April 15th every
year.

Guaranteed to have snow by the 16th.

It's my burden to bear. :)

My oldest boy was TDY at Kaneda for a couple of months after he first
got out of Pensacola before his squadron moved to Korea - can't
remember the name of the air base there.

He enjoyed it.

The guy I joined up with (remember the completely meaningless Buddy
System?) went there after boot camp. Airedale. There 64-66.
Had NOTHING good to say about it.
Especially after getting to San Diego for his final 2 years.
