I'd be grateful if anyone had thoughts on the above or my current top boat prospect: http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/7/9/1997579.htm -trevor Well, the OMC part doesn't instill too much confidence. That issue alone would be enough for me to keep looking. The OMC outdrive, even though it may currently be in perfect working order, will eventually become nothing but a liability. It will become increasingly more difficult to find parts for these drives and technicians who will work on them. The OMC factor is already having a serious negative effect on resale value, and it will only get worse over time. This is probably not as much of an issue for OMC outboards, but it is a big deal for their stern drives. If you are looking for a stern drive powered boat, limit your choices to MerCruiser or Volvo power packages. There is plenty of product out there with either of those choices that will suit your needs. Absolutely no reason to bring home an orphan. |
