Stepping up - Boat opinions wanted

I've been boating on and off about the last 10 years, lake stuff (Raystown,
PA mostly). In both a 17' Bass Tracker and 18' Whaler. I'm thinking of
stepping up as it were and trying out the Chesapeake Bay (near some friends)
and attempting to get a boat big enough to make it to Lewis, DE (near some
family).

I'd be grateful if anyone had thoughts on the above or my current top boat
prospect:

Well, the OMC part doesn't instill too much confidence.

That issue alone would be enough for me to keep looking. The OMC outdrive,
even though it may currently be in perfect working order, will eventually
become nothing but a liability. It will become increasingly more difficult
to find parts for these drives and technicians who will work on them. The
OMC factor is already having a serious negative effect on resale value, and
it will only get worse over time. This is probably not as much of an issue
for OMC outboards, but it is a big deal for their stern drives. If you are
looking for a stern drive powered boat, limit your choices to MerCruiser or
Volvo power packages. There is plenty of product out there with either of
those choices that will suit your needs. Absolutely no reason to bring home
an orphan.

As the recently former owner of a 1988 Four Winns - I have nothing but
praise for the quality and constuction of the boat.

I repowered mine with Mercury OB but would not be "scared" of an OMC
outdrive so long as it was well maintained.

The price on that looks pretty reasonable for the package. If I wanted
something that big - I'd buy it.
