If you and the few others here with an interest in boats supported Chuck's
efforts, there's no reason why you can't bring "the humor" with you over
there and leave the pigs here to wallow in their manure. Hell, you
probably could convince Chuck to set up a discussion subgroup called Sea
Shanties, and talk about your guitar collection there.

I think finger pointing can be dangerous.

Here's a sampling of threads initiated by you in rec.boats over the past few
months. Most dissolved into hundreds of "" replies and debates. All are
virtually without any boating content. There are many more that are not
included in this list because the body contained some words that had a
remote connection to boating.

I didn't finish this because I got bored with it. These are some of the
ones posted by you as "HK". I didn't bother with those posted as "HKrause"
or "Harry Krause".

To be fair, the record also shows a number of on-topic boating posts
initiated by you.

I never claimed to be an innocent on OT posting, but I do try to put up
boating related posts, even recently, despite the efforts of the
newsgroup turds to quash any such discussions.

Chuck's "rules" are posted and easily understood, and mostly have to do
with avoiding the nastiness that pervades this usenet group. I suppose if
you can't behave reasonably, you won't like Chuck's Joint.

I give him credit for trying something. *He didn't just pick up his football

I am too invested in rec.boats, and some of the personalities here to give
it up (particularly the humor), but I'll also try to support his "kinder,
gentle-er" boating forum.

It would be an interesting experiment, to see who could, and who could
not, behave reasonably.- Hide quoted text -

I wonder how your childish name calling and petty insults will play
over there.

Building a forum designed to appeal to actual boaters.

Categorized format designed to permit members to isolate those posts
most likely to be of personal interest.

The board is sponsored by a random and rotating group of marine
related advertisers, so be forewarned there are commercial messages in
some of the margins. No popups, however. It would be hard to imagine
any advertising as offensive as some of the content in unmoderated
NG's.

Lightly moderated, with one reasonably free-for-all OT board "The
Pumpout".
Spirited discussions from all viewpoints encouraged, but boorish
juvenile name calling and mean spirited personal attacks will be X'd.

Would appreciate some qualified specialists willing to assist in
moderating various categories. Would also appreciate participation
from anybody experienced in "dressing up" a web site with graphics,
etc.

This forum is in its absolute infancy, so early paticipants can help
influence the character of the final format.

Anybody primarily interested in *boating discussion* is welcome. And
heck, you can always come back here and exchange insults with the
resident trolls when the urge to do so becomes overwhelming. :-)
Disruptive trolls will have short life expentancies at

http://boatingforum.proboards91.com

See you there. (or not)

Thanks Chuck. The place looks great. I've a feeling this place will get
less and less busy.

I've been gone for six days, and came back to over 1100 posts. The great
majority are sniping attacks. It will be fun to see the sniping cut to a
minimum.

See ya there.
