Well, to a degree it actually is.

When you are supposed to develop a working class euphoria and end up
being one of the "have all's" and everybody else is a "have not". I
really wouldn't say thats a good form of leading by example.

But true, I suppose we do have more than our share of bilkers.

Of course, that article is not relevant to the concept in the article I
posted. But considering what you are, this isn't surprising.

Oh, I thought you were talking about puking.

Really, The New York Lies? You have got to be kidding. Right off it
accuses the "Republican Party" of using Obama's middle name.. Which is
of course a lie. Intellectually honest folks really can't expect to
get anything from the NY Lies but a chuckle and a few cupons on the

You're right. All the articles in the NYT are worthless. There are no

It isn't going to be that difficult to defeat a Republican candidate who
* wants a "forever" war, says he has no real understanding of economics,
and is the standard bearer of a political party that brought us the
current recession, ignored the looming housing crisis, did nothing to
even try to alleviate rising energy prices, is vehemently anti-science,
and wants to deport 12 million Latinos.

McCain is a decent man, and he is going to be slaughtered at the polls
this November.- Hide quoted text -

You seem to make it up as you go along, just like the DNC and
Billary's 527's. A currant commercial says "McCain says we will be in
Iraq for a thousand years". McCain did not say that, period, he said
100.. Now Billary is running fear monger ad's which of course they
hated just last election... Billary is lies, period. The New York
Lies should be dismissed for the comic strip it is...

OK, where did the "Pinko" term come into effect?

Was it the eventual Eastern Bloc nations? or say , Castro's Cuba?

I'm curious, who were the "Pinko's?

Communist sympathizers.

It was a term used to describe anyone that was sympathetic to the
communist or socialist cause, but wasn't actually a card carrying
member of the communist party. Sort of a communist light term.

It originally came from the term "parlor pinks" which was used
back in the 20s and 30s to refer to the same sympathizers. Pink
being a diluted version of red.

Robert, you answered a question that I should have also posted. the
sympathaizers living in a free society with communistic views.

"parlor pinks" I've never heard that phrase before.

When you get called something often enough, you begin to wonder
about it. I did.

Back in the sixties, all you had to do to become an official
pinko was grow your hair long and wear a peace symbol.

As I got older and wiser (and stronger), I found a new strategy
for dealing with them (the rednecks is what we called them down
here in Texas). I got my ear pierced in 1969 and have worn an
earring long before it was as popular as it is today. Back then,
one of the questions you would get from RNs was: Which ear do
you wear the earring in that means you're a fag?

I learned to answer: "This one." (While pointing to the ear with
my ring in it.) Shut them the hell up.

Communism doesn't strictly require a "non-free" society. It's just that
nobody's really managed to pull off any of the economic tricks *without*
screwing with people's freedoms. I'm a bit rusty on this, but I believe Tito
thought he could make socialism work in Yugoslavia without involving the
evils he saw in the USSR & China. A quick google search for "tito
yugoslavia" reveals a vast amount of disagreement about whether he succeeded
or not.

He failed. As soon as he died the artificial construct that was
Yugoslavia cracked and crumbled.

We will see the same thing in Iraq over the next 10 to 15 years.

Evidently he didn't do too good of a job at his attempt. If I rememebr
correctly, Wasn't he proven to be one of the most corrupt of Eastern
bloc dictators..?
