Default etec 90 HP 2006

I purchased a 90 etec 2006 for my center console, I am removing a 1978
evinrude 70.

anyone know what I need to rig the etec.
I am willing to get a new binnacle control, but what else do I need.
I was told there is an adapter that can be used for the harness, the 77 has
the red plug harness.

If I could get a list that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Joe

You know, being an ETEC guy, you would think I would have this down
cold, but I don't.

The last one I did with/for a guy we changed everything from the
binnacle, wiring harness, guages (I believe you will need a new
"smart" guage - a combination speedo/alarm setup, but don't hold me to
that), added the oil tank/supply line, ran a seperate feed for gas
(which required a tankk cleaning which is a story by itself) and that
pretty much was it.

With respect to converting the older harness to ETEC, I believe you
can - there is a plug adapter for that harness I think. Having said
that, there may be a age limiter on that harness - like it may be too
old - that I don't honestly know.

Billgran should be around during the next few days - he will know for
sure.

But that give you an idea of what it took to do it when I was involved
in a change over.

Good luck.

Thanks for the quick response,
I don't need an external oil tank, it has an internal tank, you need an
external on the115 HP and up.

I will gladly wait for Billigran!

That's right too - forgot about that.

Then again, I'm a 200 hp and up kind of boater. :)

You will really like that engine - it's probably the best 90 horse
engine on the market. I know quite a few locals who have them and
absolutely wouldn't give 'em up for anything. Power up the wazoo and
efficient as all get out - you will be pleasantly surprised.

I almost bought a 18 foot Ranger bass boat with a 90 HO ETEC on it - I
think they made an HO in 2006. Anyway, I didn't buy it - should have
now that I look back on it.

In any case, you will really like that engine.
