The thing the struck me most about the Parkers at the last 2 boat shows, is the ugly color. Looks like an old yellowed gel coat. The 30-40 year old look is actually OK with me, but the color is a killer. At one time the "off white", sorta beige or dull yellow color was desirable and many boats, including Hatteras were done with it. It reduces the sun glare. At some point the industry decided that bright white was prettier, and the yellow died out. You guys make a good point and one I never thought of. Although, thinking back, I don't think I've ever owned a non-white boat - except for the Princecraft and a Lund. The first boat I had .... an '82 Century was yellow-ish. I must have grown 22 inch biceps trying to compound and wax it to look white. Even the Scout I had (a 2003 model) was not bright white. It was a very off-white. The Navigator is not bright white. The Egg Harbor definitely *was* and on a sunny, bright day you knew it, even with sunglasses. Eisboch |
