Inflation Rate Is Worst in 17 Years

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Higher costs for energy and food last year pushed
inflation up by the largest amount in 17 years, even though prices
generally remained tame outside of those two areas. Meanwhile,
industrial output was flat in December, more evidence of a
significant slowdown in the economy. Consumer prices rose by 4.1
percent for all of 2007, up sharply from a 2.5 percent increase in
2006, the Labor Department said Wednesday. Consumers felt the pain
when they filled up their gas tanks or shopped for groceries. Prices
for both energy and food shot up by the largest amount since 1990.
I'm tellin' ya....we should've invaded Saudi Arabia instead of
eye-rock, and just taken their damned oil. At least we could've been
honest about that mission. Put the whole damned country under new
management.
Speaking of SA, did you see our fearless leader begging in the Middle
East for the Saudis to drill more? If memory serves, oil was around
$25 a barrel when President Idiot presumed office in 2001.

I was busy getting a stomach ache over the real reason for his visit:
To tell them we were happy to sell them more weapons. It's not a matter
of *if* we'll regret that at some point in the future, it's a matter of
*when*.
We have to sell the Saudis the weaponry, else they'll cut back on oil.

Why not just pull out. Let some fanatic get power hungry and when Saudi
gets it's control of government is threatened let them pay a trillion or
two for the services if the USA to intervene?

The problem is that there are arms sales whores all over the world, and
the purveyors have no interest in breaking the cycle. The Saudis have the
bucks and the oil to buy whatever they want from whomever they want.

But do they have the guts to go out and fight for their freedom?

I suspect raising a trillion would be more their style.

I really thought that after the debacle in Vietnam, we might have learned
some lessons about proliferating weaponry and warfare. Nah.

Agreed. If your going to fight a war, go in, do it then get out.

I remember the discussion earlier of high oil prices being blamed on the
speculators in the trading pits.

No fair bringing up last month's talking points.

Yeah. And I'm doing my best not to participate in it, thank you.
I slip once in a while, but there's a huge difference between hoping
to find some boating related discussion at this site and cranking out
one troll-post after another.

Wonder what they'd think over on the "libs.r.us" or "bush.for.king"
sites if I just started posting a bunch of boating related threads? My
bet is that would be just as silly and out of place as all the
political trolls are on this boating site.

Yeah, yeah. "You can ignore them".

That's like trying to ignore the litter after the recycling truck
rolls over at the corner. :-)

Chuck the amazing thing is that you don't chastise Harry or other
lefties when they start spewing political crap.

Something about turning a blind eye.

Actually the opening line was: 'Under Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat
controlled Congress'

Sorry, Bilious, but the Democrats do not control Congress. They have
simple majorities. When you control Congress, you have supermajorities,
enough votes in your own party to control legislation and to overturn
presidential vetoes.

Simple majority seems to work just fine when electing people to office.
Why doesn't it work when congress votes? Could it be that there are some
democrats who don't want to go in the direction of Pelosi and Reid?

Not to worry. Next January, the Democrats will control the White House
and increase their simple majorities in Congress.

We will see.

Unless your write-in campaign for Zell Miller or some other lunatic
succeeds.

We have 10 months to go before citizens are allowed to vote.

What economic policies there are in place now are those of the Bush
Administration.

And....

Bad news for the GOP. So sad.

What is the bad news. The people put the Democrat's in charge of
congress and they couldn't get anything done, except changing the menu
in the cafeteria. That is going to impress a lot of people.

Actually, I said that. I suggested turning Saudi Arabia into Puerto Rico. We
built the country with our money. It's ours. Incinerate every living

land mines every 36 inches. Take their oil

Capisce?

Lots of things seem "stupid" in the Monday morning quarterbacking

history. You have to remember that previous policies and actions
were

Right now is not Monday morning. Conditions do not warrant selling

Apparently, they don't. It would be interesting to take a look at
their
corporate contributors.

"The arms sale, which Congress has 30 days to review, would amount to
$20
billion worth of weapons, including precision-guided bombs. It is "a
pretty
big package, lots of pieces," national security adviser Stephen Hadley
told
reporters on Air Force One." http://tinyurl.com/2gjepn

Would it be better if they bought the weapons from the Russians or the
Chinese? Then you'd be bitching about outsourcing more weapons
building
jobs.

Loss of jobs does not justify selling weapons to the country we know is
our
primary enemy in the war on Islamic terrorists. Go back to sleep, John.

Not to worry. Next January, the Democrats will control the White House
and increase their simple majorities in Congress.

Unless your write-in campaign for Zell Miller or some other lunatic
succeeds.

What economic policies there are in place now are those of the Bush
Administration.

Bad news for the GOP. So sad.

They control congress. They have a majority.

They "can". But they don't.

Eisboch

That is very true. May be why Congress has a lower approval rating than the
POTUS.

Lots of things seem "stupid" in the Monday morning

Yes, it would be better. Then, we would have yet another reason to

You want me to explain why we should not sell weapons to our enemies? I will
answer the question for you, but first, I need to know what sort of
historical foundation of learning you already have. That will determine how
I answer the question. So, which books? And, each week, what news sources do
you pay very close attention to? Name them all.

So as ALWAYS you really have no answer, just here being contrarian for
some kind of sick entertainment.. As simple as I am, I have seen a lot
and lived even more, you are not hard to pin down. You have no
answers, only games, dismissed...

Sure, as soon as you answer my questions..

=========================

You want me to explain why we should not sell weapons to our enemies? I will
answer the question for you, but first, I need to know what sort of
historical foundation of learning you already have. That will determine how
I answer the question. So, which books? And, each week, what news sources do
you pay very close attention to? Name them all.

While you're at it, were any non-military planes allowed to fly out of
the US after all aircraft were grounded following 9/11? Which ones?
Who was on them?

Members of the Saudi royal family, for their protection. So what?

We once sold weapons to Iran to help "protect" us. We
gave
weapons
to
the
Taliban. We sell weapons to Pakistan. It's all very
stupid
when
viewed
in
the context of history, which our current president
seems
to
know
nothing
about.

Lots of things seem "stupid" in the Monday morning
quarterbacking
of
history. You have to remember that previous policies
and
actions
were
based on the conditions at that time and the inertia of
foreign
relationships don't change overnight.

Eisboch

Right now is not Monday morning. Conditions do not
warrant
selling
more
weapons to Saudi Arabia, many of whose citizens are as
crazy
and
****ed
off
as OBL, and are just aching for a shot at the royal
family.

If I'm not mistaken, Congress has to approve the sale.
Surely
the
Democrat
controlled Congress will have the same smarts you do.
--
John H

Apparently, they don't. It would be interesting to take a
look
at
their
corporate contributors.

"The arms sale, which Congress has 30 days to review, would
amount
to
$20
billion worth of weapons, including precision-guided bombs.
It
is
"a
pretty
big package, lots of pieces," national security adviser
Stephen
Hadley
told
reporters on Air Force One."http://tinyurl.com/2gjepn

Would it be better if they bought the weapons from the
Russians
or
the
Chinese? Then you'd be bitching about outsourcing more
weapons
building
jobs.

Loss of jobs does not justify selling weapons to the country
we
know
is
our
primary enemy in the war on Islamic terrorists. Go back to
sleep,
John.

Would it be better if they bought the weapons from the
Russians
or
the
Chinese? Are you too much a pansy to answer the question you
skipped?
--
John H

Yes, it would be better. Then, we would have yet another reason
to
place
their country under totally new management, permanently,
including
their
oil
wells, and execute every member of the royal family. On
television.

With the Russians or Chinese backing them? Did you put your
head
in
the
sand there?
--
John H

I wasn't in the military and I have more confidence in our
military
than
you
do. Did you penis fall off earlier this evening, little john?

Our military take on their military? Is a nuclear war your answer
to
the
problem?

Your personal attacks aren't becoming, but they're the norm when
your
comments approach the high side of stupid.
--
John H

The bottom line is that you don't sell weapons to enemies. Period.-

Since when you stupid drunk, please explain why we don't do buisness
with enemies. While you are at it please tell me the last country we
invaded that we did not rebuild and return to them?? We have been
over
this befoe, there is no reason to suggest we went anywhere for oil,
especially since we are taking none...

Kennebunkport or Camp David can't be secured enough to protect people like
that?
