Unbelievable.

????

I suspect you may not have read the entire article as carefully as you
normally would do.

House members *pay* for their own lunches. This isn't a public
expense. Furthermore, (from the article itself):

"House officials explained that the fresher and more varied foods were
indeed more expensive but that they had tried to preserve low-cost
alternatives such as pizza, sandwiches and prepared salads, which
remain around the same price."

So any Democrat or Republican House members who think that a 1000
calorie slice of pepperoni, fat and cheese and a 700 calorie glass of
fizzing sugar water (combo priced at $4.50) is a better idea at lunch
time than the seasonal veggie plate and a serving of fresh-squeezed
juice (at $5.75) are still in business.

I'm not sure how offering greater opportunity for personal choice
represents a "loss of touch" with America. To me, a loss of touch with
America would be: "On the menu today is split pea soup. Your choices
are small, medium, or large portions of split pea soup. You will eat
it. You will like it. Any complaints about the split pea soup will be
heard in the 'free speech zone', eight blocks from the
cafeteria." :-)

Well, at least Pelosi can claim she got *something* on her agenda
accomplished.

The food in the house dining room was better when Tip was Speaker.

Did they server beer back then?

ROFLOL! Dude, you just don't get it. It's not TOM that's worried about the
food in the cafeteria... it's our elected representatives that are!
Shouldn't *THEY* be channeling their energy into something more productive?
I certainly don't benefit from brie cheese in the reps caf... neither do our
troops in Iraq.

The Bush legacy includes 9-11, the Katrina aftermath, torture,
secret energy policies, Halliburton, signing statements, Gonzales,
no WMDs, Blackwater, 4,000 US troops dead, tens of thousands seriously
wounded or ill, recession, housing meltdown, 40 million without health
insurance, incredible national debt.

You're worried about the food in the cafeteria?

Naaa... he didn't miss anything... just trying to spin and mis-direct. He's
a master at that.

The question is why is Nancey Pelosi worried about the food in the
cafeteria? I guess that is the only thing she can get accomplished as
Speaker of the House.

HK misses the point, once again.

Every observer of recent history attributes the lack of attacks to something
else. What do YOU attribute it to? Please don't say "the war on terror".
That's too general. Please offer 2-3 specific actions that you feel have
prevented an attack on U.S. soil.

And now Joe, if you can focus long enough to answer a question. Tell
us what it is then that has led to no attacks? I won't hold my breath.

Yes. Every observer. The only people who don't attribute it to something are
the ones who aren't observing.

And, what is "dilusional"?

=======================

I didn't ask you. Let's wait and see what Bertie thinks. He's so smart. He
must have some specific ideas about why there have been no attacks.

The war on terror is a global war. Not having an attack on US soil for
a period of time is pretty much meaningless. You haven't eliminated or
even subtantially reduced risk to US soil until you have eliminated
terrorism worldwide. If you claim that's not the mission, or that that
is not possible, then you are stating that the war on terror is
unwinnable. If you want to be picky, and only think you need to worry
specifically about Americans, their are thousands of American citizens
all over the world who are also at risk from terrorists.

You're absolutely right. But, Bert's answer to my question is still a
crucial missing piece in this discussion.

You expect coherent thought from "I've got mine, so screw you" Bert? The
guy is a cipher, incapable of spewing out anything but the effluent on
reich-wing radio, "Faux" new, or the NY Post.

But I do admire your patience.

When you are constantly setting traps, patience is a virtue.
Most of the folks here are on to him though.

The war on terrorism is not winnable. Terrorism by its own nature can
rise and fall as the clouds go by. What you have to do is make examples
of those who become terrorists. Summary executions will help. You can't
fight the war on terrorism with paper.
