| |I have to leave to move some Climate Change off the driveways.
|
| Along with the extreme drought, we haven't had a *winter* in quite a

|
| Only one morning, thus far, with any frost at all.
|
| We spent Xmas and New Years in shorts.
|
| I remember when we actually had *four* seasons......
|
|
|
|True dat,
|
|In the 60's, 70's. You didn't get through the winter
|without several nice snowfalls here.
|
|Meanwhile,
|
|We went down for the weekend. I had to change into
|shorts Saturday afternoon to stop sweating. Lucky
|I had a pair stashed away in a drawer at the beach house.
|We drove to O.I to have dinner with my folks Saturday
|eve. My Dad was sitting out on the front porch to
|greet us still with *his* shorts on from working in
|the yard...and a cold beer.

Notice how many trees and bushes are budding out? The first week of
January?

|Did you read that article in Sunday's paper about Falls Lake?
|I didn't realize they screwed up on the depth when it was built.

No... I didn't see that! What did they do wrong. I know that they are
talking about augmenting the depth somehow. John... you better pay
attention, when you move, you are going to be contributing a bit to
the effort!

I hadn't read the OP. Which newspaper would this be in? I sent an email to
the parks folks down there who said Falls Lake was down 9 feet and that
only one ramp (Highway 50?) was open. I'm praying for rain...in NC.

John H

Its a surprise to me that *any* ramps are open. The photo's I've seen
show a dry lake bed with a few puddles here & there....oh and the
occasional exposed boat hull. Artifact hunters are having a field day.

Rain tomorrow.

This was a couple weeks ago. It's probably worse now. Where do you live
down there?

Im down here in Holly Springs. Not far from Shearon Harris.

I built a home here in '94. We thought
we were really in *the sticks* at the time.
My wife & I commuted to Cary everyday. (12 miles) We
thought this was atrocious considering our plant was only 3 miles
away before we moved. Since then, our plant has moved to
Fuquay-Varina. Now were only 2.4 miles from work. Only
about 1 mile as the crow fly's. I could cut a path through to woods
to my house if I wanted.

Little did we know that this area was going to grow like it has.
We now have 2 Walmart's within 5 miles.

OK. You're southwest of Raleigh and I'm thinking of moving northeast, in

If in Raleigh, eat at Angus Barn. When I used to go to Duke on Business,
was where I took the customers for dinner. Was very good, and for a silicon
Valey, Nannystate guy, resonable.

The food is good, but it is fashionably, ridiculously, expensive

I never understood why people go to a "steak house," since there is
hardly anything easier to cook at home than...steak... Now, roast beef
or prime rib, well, it's wasteful to cook one for only a couple of
people, so I can see that.

Back in my KC days, and this is way back when, you could get a nice
steak dinner at a half dozen first-class restaurants for under five bucks.
