A lot of teams do that if the weather is going to be questionable. People don't realise this, but the problem with throwing a wet weather football isn't the grip - it's the weight. American footballs are made with a special patented Chemical process called Grip-Tite and grip is further enhanced by the special pebbling process used when the leather is tanned and formed. Under certain conditions, an American football can gain as much as 6 ounces of weight. Which is not to say that wet, cold footballs don't have gripping problems, but the main problem is the variable weight. Our balls are bigger than yours! Heck.. even our fields & end zones are bigger. |

Your revitalized Redskins are on a roll, but you've drawn the Seahawks in the first playoff round. Seattle lost one game at home all season, (and just barely). It should be an interesting matchup. We learned yesterday that Seattle's second string can't even beat the 2-13 Falcons, so if the starters don't show up in good health and with their "A" game on your team could add at least one more game to the micaculous run with which they ended the regular season. My brother's wanting me to fly out and watch the game with him. Says he'll feed me dinner and buy all the beer. Of course, he knows I don't drink. Miraculous is definitely the right word. We're all wondering where the hell the team has been hiding. Hopefully, the weather will be very wet and cold. Dallas already had home field advantage sewn up and the game didn't mean anything to Dallas except for pride and injury. That last play of the first half almost cost Dallas their QB. Letting TO sit on the sidelines was smart too, let him heal for the 2nd round of playoffs. |

Fortunately for Seattle, the victory is awarded to the team that scores the most points. If the game had been determined by who played the better football, the outcome should have been much closer than the final score. |

The Redskins blew too many opportunities and made too many stupid mistakes to win that game. Seattle played well, or at least they didn't shoot themselves in the foot at every opportunity. I can't even blame it on the officiating, pro-Seattle that it was. :) Good game, Chuck. Now I have to figure out how to finance the money I lost to my brothers out there. I suppose we'll never know whether to blame Collins or Moss for that one TD, but it makes little difference. -- John H "All decisions are the result of binary thinking." |
