Merry Festus to all. And got a Garmin Nuvi 200W for the wife today. Was
going to get a tomtom xls one, but West Marine had the Nuvi for $249 + a
$50
gift certificate to the store. Played with it while waiting at the
Mexican
market for the Christmas Eve Tamales. Pretty cool.

She'll love it, and it will save about $2000 on your next car purchase!

Probably no savings on the next car. then I will inherit the GPS for the
truck. Looking at a Saturn Vue Hybrid for her next car.

I did a quick look and couldn't find the GPS as an accessory for the Vue.
Does it come with one? When I bought the wife the Highlander, the
'Navigation System' was in the $2000 range. Her Garmin was in the $300
range, and she's very happy with it.

You bought her the Highlander????
I thought she was a teacher...and capable of her own purchases?
Does she have to give you her paycheque....do you dole out an allowance to
her?

It's a guy thing here in the USA. We get to buy the vehicles and the wife
specifies everything else (except the boat).

I get an allowance from Mrs. Wave every week.

If she didn't do that, there would be a freakin' fleet of center
consoles sitting in the driveway. :)

I have a Garmin c330 I bought prior to buying my newest tow vehicle.
The Garmin GPS is so much easier to use than the one installed in the
$65K!!! SUV. I'll never buy that option again unless (as in this case)
it was part of a package I wanted. I now have two GPS's in one vehicle
but I only use the Garmin. Maybe the Germans will catch up one day but
I still like the portability.

You made the right move.

Dan

Merry Christmas to all the gang here.
Last night I loaded my new Topo Canada map software on my computer from the
CDs and then transfered to my Garmin GPSMAP 60CX.
The GPS indicates the Topo mapping is there but I can only get the base map
to show on the screen. D'oh!
I'll try Garmin on-line for help because I won't bother going to the
Binnacle until Friday. Our stores are closed Wednesday and the big Boxing
Day sales take place Thursday the 27th.

Hoo ra! Remembered that you have to draw a box around the area you want to
transfer. Just did it and all looks well. Trouble is, they only give you a
small memory card with the 60 model, so I can only load the Maritime
Provinces topographical maps in addition to the Blue marine charts I
installed in November.
Looks like I'll be buying a 1 gig card in the near future.
